Please join us in celebrating the amazing individuals at the heart of who we are and what we do. Learn more about what makes us tick as you get to know our diverse team

From HR consultants, IT personnel and administrative associates to account managers and sales leaders, our team members are dedicated to client success and community involvement—even if we must do it from a safe distance for the foreseeable future.

This month meet Kevin Kaufman. He joined the McClone team more than a year ago and works out of our Menasha office. Kevin brings nearly 30 years of experience advising clients in personal finance and insurance to his role as Account Executive in Personal Risk and Health Insurance.

Let’s learn more about him.

Tony and Peggy at GlacierMiller ParkPeggy and TonyGlacier Park lakeWhat is your role on the team?

McClone offers risk management services in both the commercial and personal sectors. So, while my colleagues on the commercial side work with our business clients to help them identify and manage organizational risks, I do similar work with clients seeking to manage personal risk (e.g., home owner’s insurance, auto insurance, life insurance, health insurance, etc.).

I spend a lot of time getting to know my clients and learning their specific needs. I help them navigate everyday life events like buying a new vehicle, purchasing a new home, adding a teenage driver to a policy or filing a claim after an accident. As our relationship grows and I learn their priorities, I am better able to recognize gaps in coverage and recommend options to protect the insured and their loved ones.

Offering guidance for individual and family health insurance is another opportunity for me to serve our clients. The details of health insurance can be intimidating for many people to understand—I strive to make the whole process as stress-free as possible. It’s rewarding to help clients break down plans, compare options, and feel empowered to choose the plan that fits their needs.

What are some of your favorite things about your job?

The thing I enjoy most is that no two days are the same. I appreciate the variety of work and the opportunity to build bonds with my clients with each phone call and email. People’s lives change minute to minute, and I have the privilege of being there for all of it—sometimes the calming influence or soothing voice after a traumatic accident and sometimes the cheering coach sharing in the joy of accomplishments like buying a new home. It’s a pretty awesome feeling.

Why do you choose to work for McClone?

I was drawn to consider McClone because of the company’s reputation for charitable contributions and commitment to community involvement. What I found is a strong and supportive company culture where team members are encouraged to find their passion projects and be part of the communities we serve.

What are your ambitions?

As more of a seasoned veteran for McClone, my goals are different than they would have been 5 or 10 years ago. I enjoy working and hope to be able to do so for the next 10 years, continuing to grow as an insurance professional, helping McClone remain relevant in the ever-changing landscape our industry faces. I look forward to continued interaction with clients as well as sharing my knowledge and experience with new team members.

What are some of your interests outside of work?

I have been married for 30 years to my wife, Peggy, and we have a 27-year-old son, Tony. As a family, we’ve always spent as much time outdoors as possible regardless of the weather, taking in whatever activities the seasons allow. Some of our favorites include biking, kayaking, hiking, cross country skiing and snow shoeing.

We love experiencing nature, and with the technology offered in mobile phones, it’s easier than ever to capture amazing moments. National and state parks are some of our preferred scenic getaways. Locally, we appreciate High Cliff and Peninsula State Parks and our favorite spot for the past three years has been Glacier National Park, which Tony introduced us to when we visited his home in Montana. He’s now headed to Oklahoma after accepting a position with the U.S. Forestry Department and I’m sure we’ll find a new favorite destination.

My other focus outside of work is service projects that inspire me. The most meaningful words my father ever gave me are, “You haven’t earned the right to complain unless you’re willing to do something about it.”

Those words changed my perspective and set me on a course of action, putting amazing opportunities in front of me. Humble Habits Coffee started out of a conversation with the Monks at Holy Resurrection Monastery about how to have an ongoing source of funds.

The Gift of Incarceration Book Club evolved out of a chance meeting I had with a life parolee who only wants to make life better for inmates at Green Bay Correctional Institute.

My involvement with nonprofit Youth Quality Life led to a meeting with the President of the Catholic University of Santa Maria in Arequipa, Peru.

The words of encouragement I would give you are, “Opportunities to impact the lives of others are all around us, those opportunities impact our lives even more.”
