Refreshing Insights

We are celebrating the amazing individuals at the heart of who we are and what we do. Learn more about what makes us tick as you get to know our diverse team. From HR consultants, IT personnel and administrative associates to account managers and sales leaders, our team members are dedicated to client success and community involvement.

This month meet Natalie Donlon from our commercial lines department. She began her career with McClone more than five and a half years ago as an intern and now serves as a quality specialist based out of our Sheboygan office. Natalie’s attention to detail and analytical thinking are essential to the success of the insurance policies and risk management programs put in place for our clients.

Let’s learn more about her.

What is your role at McClone?

As a quality specialist, I combine attention to detail with creativity and problem solving to make sure information is correct and everything is in order before policies are delivered to our clients. I always keep an eye out for potential errors and take the necessary steps to correct any issues that could impact our clients. I take pride in helping our team deliver final documents and policies that meet McClone Standards.

What are some of your favorite things about your workday?

I’m a very structured person and I love puzzles, so I think of my tasks as good analytical puzzles. This is a great position for me—not only do I get to help clients make sure their policies are good to go, but I also get to help my team members understand our processes or troubleshoot challenging issues. I like being the go-to person (most of the time 😊).

Why do you choose to work at McClone?

I love the flexibility of my schedule because it allows me to spend quality time with my children. I have a 10-year-old and I can participate in school activities and use my volunteer hours at work. I can work around doctors’ appointments, and when my 2-year-old catches a cold from daycare, I can stay home and take care of her.

My husband and I are expecting our third bundle of joy mid-May, and I will be going on maternity leave for about nine weeks. I know I don’t need to worry about my job being at risk. McClone makes it easier to be a working parent.

What are you ambitious about at work or life in general?

I think ambitions and goals change over time because life changes, so I always struggle with this kind of question. I’m pretty sure I’m nowhere near the goal I set five years ago, and I am happy with that because my life path changed in those years.

This question is also hard for me as a working mom. I’m torn because sometimes I wish I could have my cake and eat it, too—I want to be at home raising my kids full time, but I also enjoy my job and would miss the puzzles and helping others. I am thankful I can blend both worlds with the flexibility I have in my career.

What are some of your hobbies or interests outside of McClone?

I’m a homebody during the winter months, so I just enjoy playing with the kids and watching movies or reading books. During the warm months, I like to get out and go for walks or take family vacations. Our ultimate vacation goal is to find a reasonably priced cabin in the woods and do technology free weekends and weeklong family vacations!

The hubby and I like to plan date night/day once a month and try new restaurants or bum around the Sheboygan area, enjoying our time together. Other than that, I love baking, cooking and crafting. I’m a huge Pinterest person and love trying to do new things and getting the kids involved.
