Refreshing Insights

It’s been a challenging few weeks for businesses everywhere as the world grapples with COVID-19 and the myriad ramifications. While we continue to monitor business developments and share relevant news with our clients and community, we also want to continue our monthly Team Member Spotlight to acknowledge and celebrate our diverse team.

We are grateful for our wonderful employees and thank them for the many ways they have stepped up to help our clients navigate this uncharted territory.

From HR consultants, IT personnel and administrative associates, to account managers and sales leaders, our team members are dedicated to client success and community involvement—even if we must do it from a safe distance for the foreseeable future.

This month meet Tiffany Bartell. She joined the McClone employee benefits team 5 months ago and works out of both the Menasha and Sheboygan offices (when we are not under a statewide mandate to stay home). In her dual roles as account manager and engagement advisor, Tiffany builds close connections with clients to understand and anticipate their needs.

Let’s learn more about her.

What is your role on the team?

As an account manager in the employee benefits department, I am the main point of contact for clients in the day-to-day management of their group healthcare benefits. I build and maintain relationships with clients so they can feel comfortable coming to me for any of their concerns. I help solve issues as they arise, but I also look for proactive approaches that address clients’ unique needs.

As the employee engagement advisor for our clients, I work side-by-side with the risk advisors to get an accurate picture of a company’s current benefits program and understand the key drivers of employee engagement and disengagement unique to the client. We conduct employee satisfaction polls to assess employee perception, giving us the information necessary to develop an approach and initiatives that will have the greatest impact on raising levels of engagement and increasing employee performance and retention.

What are some of your favorite things about your job?

The insurance industry can be very challenging—there are so many rules and regulations that impact your choices. As an account manager, I love breaking down complex ideas so clients can easily understand their potential risks as well as the most beneficial solutions.

In my employee engagement advisor role, I love helping clients make changes that will improve overall employee satisfaction. I enjoy analyzing survey results and helping clients generate ideas and set goals to enhance the employee experience.

Why do you choose to work for McClone?

I chose to come to McClone for the family-like atmosphere. Prior to McClone, I worked for two large corporations that promoted a family atmosphere, but I never really felt it. At McClone, I can feel the family atmosphere! I love the friendships I am building with my co-workers and all the fun activities like March Madness brackets, book club and healthy potluck lunches.

What are you ambitious about?

I just graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh (Hail Titans!) last May, so I am just getting started in my professional career. In the next five years I would like to get my Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) certification and within the next 10 years earn a master’s degree in business administration (MBA). Personal goals in the next ten years would be settle down a bit more, hopefully build a house and get a goldendoodle puppy!

What are some of your hobbies or interests outside of work?

During the summer, I love spending time with my family and friends up north in Lakewood riding Utility Terrain Vehicles (UTVs). In the winter, I love skiing and snowshoeing when it’s not too cold out. I’m a big fan of world history, specifically the 1920’s and World War II. I love traveling and usually have plans throughout the year. I have no plans in 2020 yet, so I need to get some ideas started!
